The mission of the Hamden Heronettes is to develop synchronized swimmers at all levels into competitive athletes, confident performers, and compassionate teammates.
The Team
Artistic swimming, formerly known as synchronized swimming, combines grace and creativity with athletic strength and endurance. The team's goal is to promote fitness, self-esteem and a competitive spirit. While accomplishing these goals the athletes also travel, have fun, make long-lasting friendships and meet other athletes from around the country.
The team is a member of USA Artistic Swimming (USAAS) and swimmers become individual members of USAAS upon joining the Heronettes. The athletes compete in the solo, duet, and team events locally in Connecticut, regionally in New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The team competes in National events which has included such states as Washington, Florida, North Carolina, California and Hawaii.
